Up, up, up and spirited away!

Spirit Week is what the Student Council put effort into so Plamer students could show their "Palmer Pride" and perhaps meet new friends and get into trends. I personally do not participate when a Palmer Spirit Week occurs inasmuch as others may (same as half the school). The notion that I do not participate in these events is very simple, but the mechanisms of the many reasons is complex.
It is my psychology that drives myself to avoid such occasions. I am an intrapersonal person, so I make little friends. The friends I make are tightly selective and perhaps over time rejective. I lose contact to old friends and make new ones (no offense intended to my current friends). My spirits are between my interests and I. I contact friends via face to face and only use e-mails for extracurricular organisations and sometimes my father's friends. Although I do not communicate much outside of my home, I am still a happy person, living contently in my safe home. As I have stated before, Spirit Week is for people to gather, show "Palmer Pride" and perhaps make new friends. This is not how I make friends or show "Palmer Pride," thereupon I hardly participate during spirit week.

  1. Wow very honest and well put, I can appreciate that. But have you ever wondered how this looks to people who put their time and effort into running events like spirit week, or more importantly, trying to befriend you? It's almost as though you are saying, "please excuse me for saying so, but your efforts simply are not good enough for me, no offense intended." Even if this is not the sentiment you wish to present, it will be the one most commonly received. And it is perhaps, just slightly insulting, regardless of whether or not you mean it to be.

just one note, if you can use advanced, affected, and articulate language, why would you say you make "little friends"? Shouldn't it be you make few friends?

  2. Truth can be more deceitful than a lie...And as Hitler has said it,"Make the lie big, make it simple, keep saying it, and eventually they will believe it."

And the biggest lie one can ever make is not about Earth or anything else-for all that unreveals over time-but himself. I never knew if I lied to myself or not, but if I had, I will never know.

  3. By the way, when I first read the title, I thought you are say something about ghosts...

  4. Using advance language differs from grammatically flawless language. I did not proofread carefully enough to pick up the mistake noted above. I thank you for correcting my mistakes.

Jisong, I have a question for you, is Hitler an excellent role model for everybody?

  5. An excellent model, yes-but just not a positive one. After all, why do you think we are learning about him if he is not an excellent model?

  6. Jisong, your interpretations are illogical. A negative role model is a bad and potentially dangerous role model. We learn about his evil acts because he is a big reason why of WW2 began, not becuase we want to learn to be a Hitler. Do you think it is ethical to hold school massacres for selfish reasons?

  7. I believe Jisong is highlighting Hitler as a role model not for his violence and cruelty, but for his intelligence, his leadership, and his powerful skills as an orator. Many people value different forms of leadership, many people support Hitler's views. Furthermore, Hitler is a negative role model and an example of what we should all avoid doing. But he's still an "excellent example" (as Jisong has mentioned) of what we are not to be.

What I don't understand is how Jisong's quoting him had any direct relationship to what Steven has said.

  8. This reminds me of Harry Potter..."The Dark Lord achieved great things...Terrible but still great."

Exellent, good , positive, great and many of these seemingly positive words can be negative as well-they sometimes only show the magnitude of things but not the judgement that follows after.

    For example:

    1. This is a great mountain of junk that you have given me.

    2. Your condition is positively deteriorating.

    3. Hitler is an excellent model to remind us of human cruelty.

    4. This is as good as it is useless.

    5. Sweet like lime.

  9. And oh yeah Steven, I think your arguement was to explain my point not against it?

  10. The Hitler quote did not have direct relationship with what I said.

Jisong, do you feel smarter when you refute to everything? It is as if you argue whenever somebody comes up with a good point, and when you are wrong, you change the facts to cover up the flaws of your argument; even if your points were already proven incorrect.

  11. I do not understand...I think you are doing exactly what you accuse me of doing: when getting owned, switch the topic to something else...in this case, you switched it to my desire of refuting you. The answer is : No, it doesn't make me feel smarter; it just makes you feel dumber.

  13. Just by they way, the quote from Hitler is just a comment on Helens repsonse. I did not refute you in that quote as everyone else can clearly see...Therefore it further confuses me as your comment inevitablely makes no sense...Most importantly of all, your attempt of changing facts to cover up your flaws is a very...well...inadequate.

Nevertheless, I am surprised to see an extreme negative emotion associated with the name Hitler...After all, I might not be refering to Adolf Hitler...It can be Williams Tiberius Hitler or something like that...It is almost like George Bush...Except that there is at least 100 humans with the last name Bush that are still around today...

  14. What you have stated above is that you argue to intimidate.

  15. Reeeaally? I didnt know that...I suppose knowing how I argue is very important in a debate tournament! Thanks a lot!
